A New Years note from Steve...

Being a true romantic, there is always a great reason to look forward to February. It's that special day right in the middle of February that turns our hearts a flutter and puts stars in our eyes. Yes it's that special day when our thoughts turn to others and their special place in our hearts. Its that special day that we have been looking forward to since November. Yes, you guessed it.... February 15th - Pitchers and Catchers report to Spring Training and Baseball season is finally here!

And, Oh yes, in celebration of Valentines Day take your special someone to the batting cage to sweeten their swing!

Coaches’ Corner:

I've often heard that the key to a successful baseball or softball team is not achieved by playing the nine best players, but by playing the best nine. The difference is teamwork. The best nine are the players that work together the best and do what is best for the team.
Great players make their teammates better. It's these intangibles that are often overlooked when selecting or training a team. It is often why a less talented athlete can rise to an important role on a team. They discover the little things that they can do that the stars are to busy to notice. As coaches and parents it's our job to make sure that our players and children are aware of the value of the team and are coached in ways that will help the team be better. After all, one of the best benefits to come from youth sports is learning how to exist and contribute to a team, group, committee, or family. Go Team!

Baby Boot Camp:

Chester County Winter Classes

Happy New Year! If one of your 2008 resolutions is to improve your fitness in 2008, but you haven't figured how to do that with a young child, consider trying Baby Boot Camp.

Baby Boot Camp offers stroller-based fitness classes for moms and babies. Classes combine strength-training exercises with Pilates, yoga, cardiovascular drills and stretching. The stroller, resistance tubing, and even your child are used as an integral part of the workout. Baby Boot Camp gives moms a way to get back in shape while spending time with their baby. At the same time, participants socialize and create an invaluable support network.

Classes meet indoors in the winter, and indoors or outdoors in the spring, summer and fall, and are designed to meet the individual needs of each mom. All Baby Boot Camp classes follow the guidelines set by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American Council on Exercise. And best of all, your first class is free!

Grand Slam USA in Malvern on Thursday mornings from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.

Babies must be at least 6 weeks old; older children are welcome to attend as long as they are still content in a stroller.  All fitness levels are welcome, so don't feel like you won't be able to "keep up"!

Your first class is free, so no excuses!Trying a class is easy:

Show up ten minutes prior to the start of class.

The instructor will provide you with a brief orientation of what to expect.

Wear exercise clothes; dress in layers since you'll get warm once you start moving.

Bring an exercise mat or towel, some water and your baby in a stroller.
(Older children may enjoy a toy and/or a snack.)

We're famous!

Baby Boot Camp was named Philadelphia Magazine's Best of Philly 2006 for the Best Way to Lose the Baby Weight, so come find out what it's all about.
